February Blue Tuesdays’ performances:
February 6: The Professor of Blues. Bruce Katz, a former professor at Berklee College of Music, is a master of both piano and organ. A four-time Blues Music Awards nominee, Katz has played as a sideman on more than 70 albums with artists such as Ronnie Earl, John Hammond, Delbert McClinton, and Gregg Allman. Katz mixes new angles and influences with traditional blues creating a style all his own.
February 13: Blues Blood. Joel DaSilva has blues running through his veins. He was born in Chicago and grew up in a musical family. His mother sang, and his father played guitar. By the time he was 18, DaSilva had his own band. His high-energy blues has been described as Johnny Cash meets Elvis at a Stevie Ray Vaughan concert.
February 20: The Red Hots and Blues. JP Soars got hooked on the blues as a teenager after meeting the legendary B.B. King. As an International Blues Challenge winner, Soars now has his own following. The Boston’s on Beach audience can expect two sets. Soars will begin with his acoustic gypsy blues band, then kick things up a notch with his band the Red Hots. Hearts will soar with the mesmerizing guitar licks and unique vocals.
February 27: Barefoot Blues. Selwyn Birchwood, another International Blues Challenge winner, ranks among the most extraordinary young stars in the business. As he roams the stage barefoot, Birchwood rips memorable guitar arrangements, winning over audiences with his innate storytelling. He adds new sounds, colors, and textures to the genre most of us thought we knew, and delivers them with charisma.
