All of the judges were hand-picked and are very well known in the south Florida music community.

“Live music has been a cornerstone of Hard Rock’s mission since our beginning in 1971,” said Jeff Nolan, Hard Rock International’s resident music guru and Memorabilia Historian. “Hard Rock Rising 2016 is a one day, global celebration of local artists. We hope to raise awareness for these incredible and too-often overlooked acts, while simultaneously providing exposure that helps them breakthrough to the next level of success.”

Rock Local, Win Global

The wildcard “winner” will be automatically eligible to participate in the Hard Rock Rising music showcase taking place on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the participating Hard Rock Cafe or Hotel location they selected when registering. Three additional acts for each location will be selected to perform by the local Hard Rock Cafe or Hotel team. One winner will be selected from each location by a panel of local industry judges.

A panel of international music industry professionals will then narrow the local cafe winners down to four regional finalists and one global grand prize winner. All will receive a professionally-produced music video that will be added regionally to the Hard Rock video system, a 1,000 count CD/DVD pack of their latest recording and video from Bison Disc, and a Fender Instruments prize pack. The grand prize winner will receive $50,000 USD, have their video added worldwide to the Hard Rock video system and get an all-expenses-paid trip to perform at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza in September 2016.

Rock Showdown Winners

MIAMI, FL (April 29, 2016) – Rocket to Anywhere, a five-man rock band based in West Palm Beach, has won the 2016 South Florida Rock Showdown.   Energized by a large showing of their local fans, the band brought the house down while performing the opening set at the grand finale of the four-day rock contest held at their hometown venue, Revolutions,  last Saturday, April 23.

This is the third edition of the South Florida Rock Showdown, which was conceived in 2010 by Enrico Carducci, founder of Circo Massimo Entertainment, the production company behind the event. He said, “Rocket to Anywhere have a contagious energy that — paired with their talent as musicians and the originality of their lyrics — captivated the audience and impressed our panel of industry judges.”

Rocket to Anywhere was founded in 2014 by lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player Ben Crane, 20.  He is accompanied by Joel Henson, 20,  on lead guitar, Julian Montes, 21, on bass guitar and backing vocals, Andrew Conrady, 19,  on the synthesizer and Luke Helvey,  18,  on drums. They competed against two other finalist bands, Of the Wasteland and Quantum Waves, both from Miami.  All the bands had competed earlier in the week on three separate nights at three separate tri-county venues against nine other local bands and each had won their respective round.

All the bands that participate in the Showdown benefit from complimentary professional photography and video, as well as social media and press exposure.  In addition, the three finalists receive gift cards from Sam Ash Music.

Rocket to Anywhere, as the winners, will record a three-song EP.  Carducci will work with the band as producer on all aspects of the recording beginning at Grammy-nominated Vanquish Studios in Davie, one of South Florida’s most advanced, state-of-the-art private recording studio with Joseph Salamida, CEO, Founder, Engineer and Producer.  Vanquish was chosen by Mix Magazine in 2009 as one of the “Year’s Coolest New Studios.”

Mixing / Recording Engineer and Studio Design Consultant Matt Knobel will work with Carducci to mix the EP for the second year in a row.  Knobel set up rock legend Lenny Kravitz’s state-of-the-art private recording studio, guiding his equipment selections with his expertise on digital, high-tech gear that helped Kravitz amp up his sound to a new level.  Their 10-year collaboration encompassed four consecutive Grammy Awards for Kravitz for Best Male Vocal Performance in the Rock category, as well as over 20 million global sales of Kravitz albums.  Knobel’s involvement boosts the winning band’s chances of garnering national recognition for their EP.

Carducci will take the mixed recordings to Mastering Engineer, Emily B. Lazar of The Lodge Studios in New York City, who he has collaborated with since 2012 and who has worked with Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth and Linkin Park.

Nitrogen Films will also produce a music video for the band.

The 2016 South Florida Rock Showdown was produced in collaboration with Rogue Theory Project, Sam Ash, Vanquish Studios, The Lodge Studio, Nitrogen Films, MK Mixing, SHE Radio, QuestEvents, Autosport Groups, JMV Media Group and EMotions Marketing Services.

Registration for the 2017 South Florida Rock Showdown will open soon at

The first MISSION UNITED benefit and Salute to Military performance takes place on May 6, and serves as the official Welcome Party of the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Air Show.  The evening will feature a performance by South Florida’s favorite Classic Rock band, MR. NICE GUY.  A public meet and greet with air show pilots, sponsored by Yuengling and the It’s Better On the Beach Restaurant Group, follows the performance. Raffle tickets are available for purchase online at

“Two of the members of our staff were hired through United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED’s employment service, and another is currently serving in the Army Reserve” said series producer, Arianne Glassman. “In planning this highlighted series we were also pleasantly surprised to see how many members of our featured bands once served our country. With the return of the Air Show and Fleet Week in early May, and support of Mist TWST™ and area beach businesses, this series exemplifies how a simple thing like music can connect and contribute to our community.”

Other highlights of the month include THE RESOLVERS, an 11-piece “big band” combining Roots Reggae and New Orleans-style Funk on May 13. Their shows have been described as “explosive” and “must see,” and have gained them the reputation as one of the area’s premier live reggae acts. On May 20, things spice up with a performance by the Miami-based powerhouse band, SUÉNALO. Best known for their Funk, Reggae, Latin Jazz, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, they are the ‘quintessential embodiment’ of Miami as melting pot. This year, St Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday.  Authentic Irish Pubs and Die-Hards will celebrate from early morning with breakfast and beer until late night followed by more breakfast in the wee hours.  However, you don’t have to wait until the 17th to get your “green on”.  The two largest cities in Broward will be celebrating on the weekend prior to the 17th.  Read all about St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival in Downtown Fort Lauderdale 2016 on Saturday and the 19th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival in Hollywood on Sunday.

Also on the weekend preceding St Patrick’s Day, the City of Delray Beach will pay tribute with live music entertainment starting on Friday evening and continuing all day Saturday with the parade flowing along “The” Avenue from 2 till 4pm.  Read all about it on our special page dedicated to this event.

Many bars and restaurants will also be celebrating on the weekend instead of the traditional March 17th this year.

Live Entertainment Schedule at Local Pubs & Restaurants on Thursday, March 17th, 2016

A Celtic Rogue Theory at Galuppi’s in Pompano Beach at 7:30pm (and a full day of Irish entertainment starting at Noon with an Irish Fiddler, Irish Step Dancers
Bagpipes, Irish Drummer and Irish Favorites by Tom O’Miller)

The  Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood kicks off the festivities at 6pm with the Police Pipe & Drum Corps and the South Florida Cloggers. Headliner band for this Thursday is The Flyers at 9pm.  Don’t forget to try their limited time only Guinness and Jameson Irish Whiskey Bacon Cheeseburger!

Cagney’s Saloon in Davie will be celebrating both Thursday and Friday nights.  First, on Thursday with the Piro Band Jam Session, then Friday the 18th with local Rock Cover Band Soulicide. Irish beer specials include Guinness, Smithwick’s and Harps, Jameson Specials and home cooked Corned Beef & Cabbage and Shepherd’s Pie.

Bahama Bob (5-8) and Spider Cherry will be performing at Brendan’s Sports Pub in Pompano Beach 8:00pm. Irish dinners and Green Beer will be on the menu from Noon till Midnight including Bangers & Mash, Fish & Chips, Corned Beef & Cabbage as well as Shepherd’s Pie.

Axcents will be performing at Johnny O’Brien’s Pub (formerly Cuddy’s Sports Shack) in Coconut Creek 8:30pm

Furious George will be at Chit Chats Bar in Pompano Beach starting at 7:00pm

Snakebite at Whiskey Tango in Hollywood starting at 9:00pm

Headless Mind at O’Malley’s Sports Bar in Margate at 9pm

Rough Shot (Rock & Country Band) at Shenanigans in Hollywood at 10pm

Crush band will be performing at The Tilted Kilt in Fort Lauderdale where festivities will begin at 6:30pm with The Black Pearl Pipes & Drums.

Fort Lauderdale’s newest venue for live entertainment, Trio Live, will play host to two bands: ANT from 7-8:30 followed by Nick Schnebelen Band (National Touring Blues Guitarist) at 10pm.

I’m not sure about the exact band names but you can bet that they are probably the most authentic Irish at two of the largest “block party” celebrations going in Broward each year – one at The Field Irish Pub in Dania Beach and the other at Maguire’s Hill 16 in Fort Lauderdale.  Parking might be a challenge due to the vast numbers of people who are expected to attend each of these with Indoor AND Outdoor activities going on all day long.

You’ll find all the above and more listed at with more choices for Palm Beach County available too! (see ads below)

What’s going on in Palm Beach County this Thursday?

Crazy Fingers & Fruition at The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton

Paul Anthony Band at The Pavilion Grille in Boca Raton

The O’Neils (direct from Ireland) at Tim Finnegan’s in Delray Beach

Halloween Coral Springs

Halloween 2015 is going to be NUTS – knowing that it falls on what is usually the busiest night of the week for party-goers even if it wasn’t a so-called holiday for those of us who like to dress up and pretend that we are someone else for one night a year. From Hollywood Beach all the way up to West Palm Beach, you can be sure that thousands of dollars will be given away as an incentive to get you and your friends into your neighborhood drinking establishments. Do your best not to spill your drink all over that costume you spent weeks preparing or lots of money buying for this annual trick or treat event.

This year, we are relying to a certain extent on the graphic artists and visual composers who make up those creative flyers you see online in order to present each venue’s offerings for October 31st, 2015, even though many will have Halloween themed parties all weekend long too.  Browse the images which range from Broward to Palm Beach County.  Every party below features one or more favorite local bands – so get out there and support our local music scene, in costume or not.

Note: These flyers will be continuously updated as we approach the magic number of 10-31-2015.
