The Amp is proud to announce a diverse lineup of artists and festivals that will be part of the 2016 lineup. The Creative City Collaborative, responsible for programs at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, has been attracting performers of all genres and this coming season continues with a category defying catalog of artists. “The Amp is about all types of entertainment,” says Alyona Ushe, President and CEO of The CCC-Pompano Beach. “In our first year we strove to develop not just one audience, but multiple audiences who came to appreciate the caliber of artists we were presenting.”

MORE DETAILS ON UPCOMING EVENTS
1/8/16 7pm | Little River Band/Ambrosia/Player | $45-$75
Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. It was originally a blend of musicians who had enjoyed success in other Australian rock acts. Their new focus was to get airplay on American radio, and they achieved that goal with good songwriting, powerful vocals, and guitar harmonies. They immediately claimed their place as one of the great vocal bands of the ‘70s…and the ‘80s.Between 1976 and 1983, chart success in America includes the following singles: It’s a Long Way There, Help Is on Its Way, Happy Anniversary, Reminiscing, Lady, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy On Me, Man On Your Mind, We Two, and The Other Guy.
Little River Band is considered to be one of Australia’s most significant bands. Worldwide album and CD sales now top 30 million. They also set a record for having Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years…the first band to achieve that mark. And according to BMI, Reminiscing has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on America radio…and Lady is close behind with over 4 million airplays. LRB was rightfully inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004.The current lineup brings new energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making new memories for the audience out of each live performance. It’s always fun to watch as people are swept up by the show’s vitality and the volume of hits from LRB’s history. You’ll see plenty of people mouthing the words…”I love this song…I forgot it was one of Little River Band’s hits!”
Exploring the possibilities of progressive classical and world influences, yet rooted with the soul of the blues and R&B, Joseph Puerta, Christopher North, David Pack, and Burleigh Drummond created a new sound that was defined and recognized as Ambrosia. In its brief recording history, Ambrosia garnered 5 Grammy Nominations, 5 Top 20 singles, heavy FM airplay, and the admiration and respect of the musical community. All this is in addition to several sold out concerts around the world.
Today the band is more alive than ever. The band recently rocked the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon show with accolades from Jimmy himself and has shown its musical versatility with the ability to play a set of music with Yes and Genesis or glide into their pop hits “How Much I Feel and Biggest Part of Me” with a romantic soul. n January 1978, Player had an international number one hit with their first single: “Baby Come Back”, which was co-written and sung by Beckett. The self-titled album went platinum and the band toured extensively. Four albums followed rendering four more top forty singles, including “This Time I’m In It For Love”, which reached number ten on Billboard’s chart.
Player started performing again in the year 2003, always featuring an all star line-up, which has included at various times members of The Cars, REO SpeedWagon, Foreigner and Little River Band.
Band member Peter Beckett has written hit songs for many artists including: Heart, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Rodgers, The Temptations, Poco, Janet Jackson, The Commodores, Cliff Richards, Survivor, Grace Slick, and more recently Vanessa Hudgens of “High School Musical” fame.
Between the years 1989-1997, Peter was a featured member of The Little River Band and has written several singles for them. Peter and Ronn were part of Sail Rock 2013 and toured the country with Christopher Cross, Orleans, Firefall and many other great musicians. In 2014, the entire band toured Australia and appeared on national TV shows like General Hospital and Home and Family.
A final note on Player – Ron Moss, who played Ridge on The Bold and The Beautiful for 20 years will also be back with the band.
1/10 |8pm |Engelbert Humperdinck |$40-$85
Engelbert’s hit songs like ‘The Last Waltz’, ‘After The Lovin’, ‘There Goes My Everything’, ‘A Man Without Love’ and ‘Am I That Easy To Forget’ are some of the greatest hits of all time and essential to the show. ‘Release Me’ kept The Beatles ‘Penny Lane’ from going to number one ending a consecutive run of number ones for the Fab Four started in their early days. However, it’s the new songs that give an Engelbert show its 21st century relevance. Englebert is garnering praise for his version of Ed Sheerans’ “Thinking Out Loud” and his new country CD, Runaway Country, where he puts his spin on “I’m on Fire,” “Desperado,” “We’ve got Tonight” and more!

3/11/16 |7pm The Charlie Daniels Band with Special Guest The Marshall Tucker Band
From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 78, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.
Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing on the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records.
Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
The CDB will perform 100 concert dates this year including performances on the Grand Ole Opry. The band’s latest release, “Off the Grid – Doin’ It Dylan,” features 10 Bob Dylan songs by the CDB, and is their first CDB studio release since 2007
The Marshall Tucker Band
The MTB opened shows for The Allman Brothers in 1973, and the following year, they began to headline their own shows across America due to the platinum-plus sales of their debut album. They toured constantly playing sheds, stadiums, theaters, fairs, and festivals.
In years to come, The Marshall Tucker Band would wow critics and influence major country acts like Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, and Travis Tritt with its definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel. Now, thanks to the expanding scope of today’s music, a new generation of fans is learning what the rest of their fans have known for so long- that good music knows no boundaries. Along the way, the band has recorded twenty two studio albums, three DVDs, three live albums and many compilations.
Currently they are promoting their new release, CD, Live in the UK 1976. The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) took a mighty leap in November of 1976 when they crossed the Atlantic and hit Europe for the first time. Sweet, seductive R&B makes its way to The Amp! Legendary R&B singer, music producer and songwriter Keith Sweat will raise your temperature and thrill you with Billboard hits such as “Twisted” and “Nobody.”
Sweat was discovered singing at a nightclub in 1987. In November of the same year, he released his debut album, Make It Last Forever, which sold four million copies. On the R&B charts, “I Want Her” hit #1 and the album’s title track hit #2. His next album,I’ll Give All My Love To You, hit #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and “Keep It Comin’” debuted in the Top 20 on the album charts.
He released his third album, Keep It Comin’ in 1991, which debuted in the top 20 of the album chart. Sweat then moved from New York to Atlanta, where he founded the Keia Records label that would feature Silk & Kut Klose. Since 2007, Sweat has been the host of a nationally syndicated radio program, The Keith Sweat Hotel. The program is currently heard on nearly 50 stations nationwide.
In 1992, Keith Sweat discovered Silk, whose members would go on to sell 5 million records and become five of the signature voices in R&B. The quintet is best known for their baby-making ballads and New Jack Swing favorites like “Freak Me”, and “Happy Days.” Another hit from their steamy debut album, Lose Control, “Girl U For Me”, helped it reach double platinum status. They later had success with singles such as “If You”, “Meeting In My Bedroom”, “Girl U For Me”, “Lose Control”, “Hooked On You” and “Don’t Rush.”
The group still comprises the original members who debuted in 1992.These gentlemen are Timzo (Timothy Cameron), Jim (Jimmy Gates, Jr.), Big G (Gary Glenn), Lil G (Gary Jenkins) and John John (Johnathen Rasboro). Aside from their feel-good music, Silk is known for being one of the few singing groups who are, in fact, still together with all original members. Silk continues to enjoy longevity in the industry with six studio albums. Currently, the group is delicately placing the finishing touches on their seventh studio LP while touring the world.
