Memorial Day Weekend has never sounded so good! This may be one of my personal favorite upcoming events. Being a Blues fan I find great pleasure in listening, supporting, and promoting an event such as this, especially since the arrangement of talent is so amazing, and the additional local support outstanding! The price of admission should be at least doubled for this lineup of superb musicians! The list is too extensive to go into great detail about each artist’s talents and backgrounds, however one look at the playbill and list of back up players and it should tell you that these are seasoned musicians. They live, breathe, and ooze the Blues from their soul. It fills the air with each riff, and strike of a chord. You hear the pain in the music and guitar down to your bones.
The event, sponsored by the South Florida Blues Society gets started Sunday, May 26th, 2013 at 3pm on the big stage inside the Sample Road Tavern, located on the corner of Sample Rd and Riverside Dr. in Margate. Each guitarist will play a 30 to 45 minute set. Players this year will be backed up by the ever-so-popular Joel Dasilva and the Midnight Howl (Joel Dasilva – Rhythm Guitar, Bob Cleary – Bass, Stefano Rotati – Drums, and Doug Treen – Sax).
Josh “The Pitbull of the Blues” Rowand
Dave “Bluesman” Morgan
This event also gives you a chance to enter “THE MOST ANTICIPATED RAFFLE OF THE YEAR” a chance to win a ticket for two to cruise aboard the LRBC#22 (Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise) sailing to the Eastern Caribbean January 19-26, 2014. The cruise is sold out so this may be your only chance to get in on it!
This is also a great chance to visit one of North Broward’s most unique restaurants. The Sample Road Tavern looks like an ordinary restaurant-bar on the outside. However, they have completely remodeled the former site of Roy’s and created a New Orleans style décor and menu, which includes everything from Baby Back Ribs to Alligator Bites.
The Sample Road Tavern is located at 8000 W. Sample Road, Margate
Doors will open at 2:00 PM. General Admission to this event is $10 or $8 for SFBS members (with current membership cards). For more information on this event please check out these sites http://soflablues.org/ and www.facebook.com/pages/South-Florida-Blues-Society.
See you there!
