Pigout in Deerfield BeachIf you like the combination of a good outdoor barbecue and live music, then Sullivan Park at Hillsboro Blvd and the Intracoastal is the place to be on Saturday, June 29th, 2013 11:00am – 6:30pm! Each year, the Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce organizes the PigOut N’ Deerfield – a fundraiser for the Chamber that allows them to work with charities and organizations in the area. Additionally, they provide an Education Technology Scholarship to a graduating middle school student from Deerfield Beach Middle School. There will be plenty to do for the whole family including lots of vendors, raffles, competitions, and prizes. Don’t miss out on a great time all while helping out the community and the Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce reach their goal by giving back.  Individual Tickets – $10 / Bundle of 4 Tickets – $30

Uproot Hootenany

Uproot Hootenanny – A local favorite! This group of friends formed a band in a local establishment at The Irishmen Pub in Boca Raton, FL in 2007.  The band is all about high energy and have plenty to spare. They’re the perfect blend of Irish, Folk, and Bluegrass music topped off with a never ending surprise of talent and perfect blend of sound. They have opened for acts such as The Charlie Daniels Band continue to be a longstanding fixture in our community.

Andrew Morris BandAndrew Morris Band- Country Music lovers be sure to see the Andrew Morris Band! They infuse a country / southern rock sound that keep the crowds on their feet! A staple on the South Florida music scene, comprised of a few longtime music pro’s and an incredibly talented young singer. The band is known for their energetic, unpredictable, but always supremely musical live shows!

Steve MinottiSteve Minotti Band- Known to sport his Jester don’t let him fool you, this man’s talent is no joke! He and his band have been performing across the country for decades and we’re lucky enough to have him in Florida now. He has a signature style all his own playing music from all eras and entertaining all genres. He’s eclectic and diverse in his delivery, style, and performance. This group of seasoned musicians will surely put a smile on your face!

Jess TaylorJess Taylor- At just 17 years old this young lady belts out Country Music like a seasoned pro! It wouldn’t be a surprise if she ended up at the Grand Ole Opry or signed to a record label soon! With a burst of energy and skill, she delivers songs with a punch that will leave you amazed! She has the Pop Country sound that makes you want to move and keeps you entertained the whole time! Look out Nashville a real star is born, right here in South Florida.

Pompano Beach Seafood Festival

seafood fest food presentationWhere can you enjoy local seafood, browse through endless local vendors AND experience live music?  The Pompano Beach Seafood Festival will let you do all of the above at the same time!  This year marks the 29th annual return of the jam packed beach area event, sure to satisfy every craving for the very best South Florida locals have to offer.  In past years, the festival has covered every inch of the event grounds with local food vendors, craft vendors and topped it all off with live music throughout the three day event.  They have always aimed to please and this year is no exception! The City of Pompano Beach has widened the beach area while the organizers has enlarged the main stage and added more beach seating.  So, you’ll be able to load up on your favorite bites to eat and find a seat to relax and enjoy the show!  The event kicks off on Friday, April 26th at 5PM and continues until Sunday, April 27th at 8PM.

The Seafood Festival is considered one of South Florida’s most exciting beach parties, with live music, fantastic seafood and the Boardwalk Bazaar, host to arts and crafts vendors.  Some of the best local restaurants prepare the fresh catch of the day and offer samples at their kiosks.

seafood fest food standsThis year’s array of food vendors will satisfy every craving you may have for great local delights.  Some of the best local seafood restaurants will be serving up their specialties all throughout the festival.  While most of the food presented is local seafood, there will also be other types of food and snacks all weekend long.

Kicking off the event’s entertainment on Friday is reggae band Fourth Dimension at 6PM.

Be sure to stick around to catch Never Stop Believing, the ultimate Journey tribute band, at 8:30 PM.

Don’t miss Pompano Jacks, on the south side of the pier, providing beach music all weekend.  The Pat Larkin Community stage at the south end of the boardwalk, will also host a variety of local musical acts throughout the festival.

seafood fest food standsFestival entrance is at the Pier parking lot on NE 2nd St., between A1A and Pompano Beach Blvd.  A free trolley service is available for those that utilize the parking along Atlantic Blvd, between A1A and the Intracoastal. This is also for those that park in the bank parking lots along Atlantic Blvd.  No outside drinks, coolers or pets of any kind are permitted.

Did you know? The Seafood Festival is a non-profit event and revenues benefit a variety of charities and organizations. The event is primarily volunteer- driven which means every detail is from the heart. Some of the many groups to benefit from the event: Boy Scouts, Pompano Proud, Pompano Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Women in Financial Services and many more. Over the years, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep these and other groups going and going. Daily admission is $15 while kids under 12 are FREE!

button south reunionBack in the early 80’s-mid 90’s, the Button South was the place to be for hard rock music lovers. Nestled in the City of Hallandale and right off the main drag, punks, new wavers, hard rockers and headbangers from Fort Lauderdale down to Miami gathered there for nights of live music and frolic. The legendary Button was one of South Florida’s premier music venues emerging from Crazy Greg Newell’s The Agora aka The Agora Ballroom. The Agora’s name was later changed to The Button South. While many acts like Motorhead, The Cult, Winger, LA Guns, Skid Row, Ramones, The Kinks and so many more made stops at The Button, several local original bands like The Goods, Saigon Kick, Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids and Gypsy Queen also played regularly.

Now you can experience a slice of the 80’s and 90’s rock music scene by attending The Button South Class Reunion.

culture room fort lauderdaleThe third annual Button South Class Reunion is invading the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale April 26-27th 2013. For the second year in a row, the Culture Room will be hosting the event. Ten bands will be packing in crowds for two incredible nights of fun, memories and killer classic rock music. This event highlights the Golden Age of South Florida rock, the bands that made it happen and one of the greatest local music venues in South Florida.

cheetah's hallandale Party harty like it’s 1989! Start things off at the Kickoff Party on Thursday, April 25th right at Cheetah’s (formerly The Button South) in Hallandale. Saigon Kick’s Phil Varone will be hosting the event. Check out what’s become of the place since its rock ‘n roll persona was shed!

On April 26th, catch Motor, Steve Jude & The Rising, Canaveral, Driver rockin’ out. You’ll also see The Button South All-Star Band featuring members of bands from yesterday and today including Saigon Kick, Farrcry, Cold Turkey, Miss Conduct, DeSaint, Squadron, Beggars Opera, Actual Proof, Pat Travers Band, Heartless, Ross and more.

On Saturday, April 27th, catch Gypsy Queen, Heartless, The Legion, Miami Dolls, Phineas J. Whoopie and many more. The Reunion truly reunites folks who made The Buttons happen—from the bouncers, promoters, bartenders, servers to the music fans who frequented the club.

Celebrity Hosts at the Culture Room will include Phil Varone (Saigon Kick/Skid Rowe), Liz Wilde (from WSHE 103.5 radio station from back in the day), Steve Stansell (from WSHE, WGTR, Zeta radio stations), Bill Murphy (from WSHE, WGTR, Zeta radio stations) and Madman Mike (from WSHE radio station).

Tickets are $12 per night at the Culture Room or $20 for a 2 Night Ticket. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the door.

Blues Brews BBQSouth Florida Blues fans will be sure to enjoy the Blues, Brews, & BBQ event at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino starting at 2pm on Saturday, April 20.  Fans will be entertained by the best live music, icy cold brews and down home BBQ this side of the Delta. Bands featured for the event range from Grammy nominated artists such as the North Mississippi All Stars, as well as the gritty guitar banging and hardcore blues of Tab Benoit. Make sure you see the uniquely bold brass & percussion style of Bonerama along with the bluesy guitar wailing and soulful sound of Albert Cummings and don’t forget about the delta blues / hillbilly back country music from The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. All entertainment will be inside The Pavilion – a full-size concert stage.

Rock for the Cure Mugshots

Rock for the Cure at MugshotsBringing down the house and giving to a worthy cause! Wanna catch your favorite local bands all under one roof? Check out Mugshots in Margate on Saturday, 4/20 starting at 8pm.
For those that have joined in on this stellar night in the past, Mugshots is once again hosting ROCK FOR THE CURE. Besides getting to hear some of the best local bands, donations and raffle tickets will go to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In past years, Mugshots has hosted and produced a night of great music for every kind of music fan and been an integral part in the fight against Leukemia.
There can’t be a better way to soak up some of South Florida’s best local bands AND put your dollars to work for the families fighting for the cause. Mugshots, once again, is geared up to deliver a rocking night with some of South Florida’s best original and cover bands to keep you dancing, screaming and just craving more! Returning bands and some new friends are sure to please every music lover’s taste. Their acoustic and electronic sound, along with their magical way of producing a hugely original vibe, they take pop music to the wall…and then some. Their songwriting is as unique as their sound and produces an epic experience that has you wanting more.

Trudy Miquelerena – Trudy describes herself as a free-spirited singer/songwriter. Born in Venezuela and soon finding her way to South Florida, Trudy’s presence on stage is a beautiful and poetic and her passion for music. She combines both Spanish and English to create a high energy performance each time she takes the stage. Her music is passionate and soulful, fun and clearly she loves to entertain and move people.

Crimson Juliet – Picture Pat Benatar meets the Foo Fighters! Fronted by vocalist Jen Jae, Crimson Juliet delivers a distinct sound of metal, alternative, hard rock and a touch of the 80’s. They produce a hard edged, yet insightful vision that has produced a fan base from young to old and everyone in between. The creativity of this 3 piece band continues to produce a sound that is melodic and high energy, and always distinctly theirs.

Rockit to Russia – RAMONES RAMONES RAMONES!!! If you are craving that sound, those songs that could only come from the Ramones, then you have to check out this band! Fans will appreciate their slap-happy dedication to the originals and the dedication to keeping the Ramones music and stage performances alive and kicking. Don’t be surprised with their musical impersonations of the original Ramone members and enjoy their savvy energy. They put on quite the concert!
