Water Taxi will have 13 boats (with drinks available on six vessels), running every 10-15 minutes with limited stops along special northern, southern and New River routes, all leading directly to the Boat Show at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center. Pick-up and drop-off locations include the Gallery One Doubletree Hotel, Riverside Hotel, Fort Lauderdale Convention Center and The Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel, each offering convenient parking options at very low rates. Singer/Songwriter SIA’s Nostalgic for the present tour will be featuring dog adoptions with Animal Aid, Inc. from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Saturday, October 29th at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. Meet and greet some of Animals Aid’s dogs available for adoption outside the BB&T Center and view adoptable dogs on the large screen during the concert. Animal Aid Inc. strives to rescue as many dogs and cats in South Florida as their donations allow.  They save injured, neglected or unwanted cats and dogs from county shelters hoping to place them in forever homes. Volunteers fight an uphill battle each day with limited resources, trying to improve the odds of these animals.

Wellington Amphitheater concerts

The Wellington Parks and Recreation Department offers many events throughout the year, including free events all year long at the Wellington Amphitheater including live music by local rock and country cover bands, tribute bands, movie nights and food truck nights.  Because we love outdoor concerts, (and food trucks) we have summarized upcoming bands for the action-packed months of September through December at this most popular open-air venue in western Palm Beach county.

About the Wellington Amphitheater

The Wellington Amphitheater is a 3,200 square foot facility located adjacent to Scott’s Place, a Barrier-Free Playground. The facility includes a state of the art sound and lighting system for events such as concerts, plays, school functions, and movie nights. A grand opening concert was held on July 3, 2010 to commemorate Independence Day. The Wellington Amphitheater was funded by a Palm Beach County grant and can accommodate up to 1500 persons.

The young New Orleans native began playing the saxophone at the age of 7, and was granted a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music by the time he was 16. His unique style is comprised of jazz, hip hop, soul, electronic, funk, R&B, blues and reggae.

Royal has played with hip-hop giants and jazz and funk legends alike, including Bobby Brown  Alvin Batiste, and Jason Marsalis. He has also recorded with chart-topping artists like Mary J. Rockin’ Jake has been hailed by many as one of the premier harmonica players in the country. His original sound is a hybrid of second line, swamp funk, blues and zydeco with influences from Paul Butterfield, Big Walter Horton, James Cotton, The Meters,WAR, J. Geils Band, Clifton Chenier, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Jake has conjured up this formula that is blowing crowds away from coast to coast. Widely known as a touring juggernaut among his peers, his schedule of over 200 performances per year include clubs, concert venues, and festivals.

Based out of New Orleans since 1990, Rockin’ Jake relocated since being flooded out by Hurricane Katrina, then settled in St. Louis and now lives in Southern Florida.Originally from the East Coast, the “blues bug” bit at an early age for Jake. He immersed himself in the thriving regional blues scene, which boasted such talents as Roomful of Blues, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard and Sugar Ray. Primarily self-taught, Jake briefly studied with Jerry Portnoy, harmonica player for Muddy Waters.

In 1990, when Jake moved to New Orleans where he began to work with such notable New Orleans mainstays as: blues diva Marva Wright, Mem Shannon, Coco Robicheaux, Little Freddie King, Tommy Ridgley, Eddie Bo and other local legends. During this time Jake also toured nationally with G. Love & Special Sauce, blues and pop legend Maria Muldaur as well as logging international miles with bluesman T.J, Wheeler. He was selected to perform in an all-star band featuring blues legends Pinetop Perkins and Hubert Sumlin at the Howlin’ Wolf.

In 1995 he formed the Rockin’ Jake Band as an outlet for his original music and his unique swampy sounds. One year later Jake recorded his debut CD, “Let’s Go Get ‘Em” (on Rabadash Records) which earned him national acclaim.

HOT LICKS: A Tribute to Harmonica Songs of the Stones The first set will include Jake’s original music. The second set will delve into the Rolling Stones catalog, and explore the harmonica playing of Brian Jones, Mick Jagger and Sugar Blue. A great night for Stones fans and blues fans alike.

The drummer extraordinaire and son of legendary jazz bassist Chubby Jackson, returns to Arts Garage for another high-energy performance. His distinct swinging style combined with his enthusiasm and wit is a show that all jazz fans should experience. He has performed with legendary artists including Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Carter.
