The City of Delray Beach takes independence day very seriously as they have planned activities from early morning to late night for the entire family. Located beachfront  at Atlantic Avenue, this annual event will feature live music with Slip & The Spinouts along with some unique contests. Be sure to sign up for the sand sculpting contest and try your hand at Soccer Darts and Mini-Putt (5-9pm).

 

Entertainment Schedule

8:00am – 12 Noon –  Sandcastle Contest on the beach (sign up online in advance)

5:00pm – Flag Raising Ceremony at Atlantic & Gleason Street

5:30pm – Slip & The Spinouts (Rockabilly) at Main Stage (Atlantic & A1A)

7:00pm – Aaron Carter

7:30pm – AJR

9:00pm – FIREWORKS show launching from the north end of the beach

PARKING & STREET CLOSURES

BIKE 2 the 4th – Bike 2 the Fourth thanks to Human Powered Delray! Leave your car at home and ride your bicycle to the event. Free Bicycle Valet Bike racks will be available at no charge and we will have Human Powered Delray staff there to watch your bike. No need to worry about a place to park or the need to lock your bike!

Take note that this year’s celebration will take place beach-side, as usual, with minor changes:

A1A closure: From 2pm on Tuesday, July 4th, A1A will close from Thomas on the north all the way past Casuarina to Bucida on the south to allow for easier pedestrian exit after the fireworks.

Beach Access: Limited access and egress to the beach. The north side beach entrances remain the same. The south side will have designated fenced entrances. Use only the entrances that are indicated.

No Showers: Not all of the showers along A1A will be in operation on July 4th. Showers at Anchor Park are available.

BOAT TRAFFIC ADVISORY & BRIDGE CLOSURE – Atlantic Avenue Bridge will be closed to marine traffic from approximately 8pm to 10pm on Monday, July 4 to facilitate holiday celebrations. Boaters are advised to use caution during this time. In addition, George Bush Blvd and Linton Blvd bridges will also be closed to marine traffic during this time.

 

PARKING – Handicap parking will be available at the north and south ends of the SR A1A closures near Vista Del Mar and Miramar Street on a first come, first served basis. Handicap vehicles must have placards and registration when approaching checkpoints. The public is urged to park in Downtown Delray Beach and take the Downtown Roundabout or walk to the beach.

 

PARKING GARAGES – On Monday, July 4, a flat fee of $5 per vehicle will be charged from 10:00am to closing at the following public parking garages and locations:
Robert Federspiel Parking Garage, 22 SE 1st Avenue
Old School Square Parking Garage, 95 NE 1st Avenue
Parking attendants accept cash only, upon entry, and will monitor parking facilities until the posted closing times.

 

DOWNTOWN ROUNDABOUT MODIFIED TROLLEY SERVICE – On Monday, July 4, the Downtown Roundabout will operate its regular weekday schedule (ROUTE 1 (6am-7pm; ROUTE 2, 6:45am-11:15pm), providing free roundtrip service along Atlantic Avenue from the Tri-Rail Station on South Congress Avenue to Ocean Blvd/SR A1A.

 

Beginning at 2pm, trolleys will operate on a modified route, providing roundtrip service along Atlantic Avenue from Tri-Rail to NE/SE 7th Avenue. From 7th Avenue, trolleys will travel to SE 1st Street westbound to SE 6th Avenue. Service will continue north on SE 6th Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, and proceed west on Atlantic Avenue. NO SERVICE will be provided east of the Intracoastal until the following day. Due to anticipated traffic, please expect delays during this event.
