Festival of Inner Peace at Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center

What happens when vocalists, guitarists, flautists and dancers decide to take audiences on a meditative journey – the Festival of Inner Peace!  This world-renowned group has been enchanting audiences across Milan-NYC-Chicago and now Fort Lauderdale on August 5th at Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova Southeastern University from 8 till 9:30pm.

For most people, entertainment and enlightenment are two worlds of their own that don’t seem to fit together, but the Festival of Inner Peace is well on its way to break that myth! Imagine an exuberant band of musicians, artists and dramatists on stage pouring rhythm, melody and soul into your every pore. Yet, behind this masterful spectacle, peace is the pilot that steers the course – not just the kind of peace that touches your soul but also the kind that brings change when the world needs it the most. This enlightened state of peace, achieved through meditation, is the Festival of Inner Peace’s signature in every show.

In the aftermath of the Manchester terrorist attacks, not to mention America’s own threats of terrorism, the Festival of Inner Peace is a welcome sign that fills in the gaps of hatred, confusion and stress in the lives of so many of us, says, Anjan Upadhya, event organizer for the Festival of Inner Peace. “There can be no peace in the world, unless there is peace within,” he quotes from a saying by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Founder of Sahaja Yoga meditation on which the Festival of Inner Peace bases its inspiration.

Based on an ancient technique of meditation, Sahaja Yoga brings about peace through a connection of one’s inner energy with the all-pervading universal power. Developed in 1970 by the renowned spiritual leader, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, this practice enables many people at the same time to easily achieve true peace and spiritual fulfillment. Classes are offered free of charge world-wide. This meditation is the key element to this event.

The uplifting and soothing music of this multi-city tour of world-class musicians and artists is a delightful conduit for experiencing inner peace effortlessly. “I’m playing for something peaceful,” says Shakthidhar, the Festival of Inner Peace’s Flautist. “The peace I’ve experienced through Sahaja…I could transmit through my music,” he explains.

Since 2013, the Festival of Inner Peace has toured cities such as New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Detroit, Dallas and more, thrilling audiences with its “upbeat and spiritual,” music, as one concert attendee puts it, and keeping the crowd “in the present,” as another attendee admits.

Typically, the Festival of Inner Peace presents a blend of spiritual qualities exhibited through artistic talent such as flamenco guitar, tabla (Indian drums), flute, dance and more. Upadhya says, “It is an exploration of one’s inner journey using music and dance as a medium.”

The Festival of Inner Peace’s Miguel Czachowski, Flamenco Guitarist and Music Composer from Poland, says that the music connects spirituality to real life, and as music is connected to one’s inner state, inner development ensues. Thus, concert attendees can expect a truly wholesome experience where two worlds meet – spiritual and sublimely sensational!
