The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida (EFOF) will host a fundraising event, ‘Purple Hat Night Out’, on Thursday, November 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grateful Palate (3003 NE 32nd Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308). It will take place during National Epilepsy Awareness Month, an annual period dedicated to educating individuals and communities about epilepsy.
A purple carpet entrance
The cocktail-themed event will feature a purple carpet entrance where attendees are encouraged to wear and showcase purple hats to raise epilepsy awareness. Designer hats, donated by Whittall & Shon, will be displayed at the event. Other event highlights include a silent auction, live music, DJ, and a special “gallery style” display of art created by children with epilepsy who participated in an EFOF summer camp sponsored by Ronald McDonald House Charities this past summer.
Epilepsy, a common neurological condition that one in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives, is a diagnosis given when a person experiences two or more seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause. It is a disorder more people live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy – combined.
‘Purple Hat Night Out’ tickets can be purchased for $50 each or $100 for a VIP ticket; all tickets include Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. To learn more about the event and register, visit: http://www.efof.org/events/purplehat/.
