The City of Oakland Park’s first food and drink festival, “Taste of Oakland Park,” takes place Friday, February 17 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Jaco Pastorius Park. The event features approximately 30 different local restaurants and beverage companies providing complementary food & beverage tastings with paid admission of $10 at the entrance.
Live Music and more!
Featured performers will be the Glyn Dryhurst Dixieland Jazz Band. Dixieland, which was developed in New Orleans, is one of the earliest styles of jazz music. The style combined earlier brass band marches, French Quadrilles, biguine, ragtime, and blues with collective, polyphonic improvisation.
The Broward non-profit group Flipany (Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth) will sponsor the “Kid’s Kitchen” and demonstrate child-friendly menu items. In addition to food and beverage tastings, the event also features family-friendly entertainment, including live music, interactive games, children’s activities, and a vendor shopping area with more than 20 culinary-related businesses.
Admission to “Taste of Oakland Park” is $10 which covers food tastings from all of the restaurants, beverage samples for attendees 21 years old and over, and entertainment. Children 12 years and under admitted free with parent or guardian. To learn more about this and other culinary & cultural events, please call Oakland Park CRA at 954-630-4251.
