Friday, May 20 – Chemradery, Day 4 and Steeltown Religion
Friday, May 27 – Absoloot, Artisan Soul and Ornimental

Hard Rock Café Hollywood could not do this alone, so we would like to welcome our judging panel to include, multi-instrumentalist Burny Pelsmajer from the School of Rock, musician, songwriter, performer and owner of DogManic Recording Studios, Christian Solazzo and singer-songwriter, Lisa Thayer. All of the judges were hand-picked and are very well known in the south Florida music community.

“Live music has been a cornerstone of Hard Rock’s mission since our beginning in 1971,” said Jeff Nolan, Hard Rock International’s resident music guru and Memorabilia Historian. “Hard Rock Rising 2016 is a one day, global celebration of local artists. We hope to raise awareness for these incredible and too-often overlooked acts, while simultaneously providing exposure that helps them breakthrough to the next level of success.”

Rock Local, Win Global

The wildcard “winner” will be automatically eligible to participate in the Hard Rock Rising music showcase taking place on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the participating Hard Rock Cafe or Hotel location they selected when registering. Three additional acts for each location will be selected to perform by the local Hard Rock Cafe or Hotel team. One winner will be selected from each location by a panel of local industry judges.

A panel of international music industry professionals will then narrow the local cafe winners down to four regional finalists and one global grand prize winner. All will receive a professionally-produced music video that will be added regionally to the Hard Rock video system, a 1,000 count CD/DVD pack of their latest recording and video from Bison Disc, and a Fender Instruments prize pack. The grand prize winner will receive $50,000 USD, have their video added worldwide to the Hard Rock video system and get an all-expenses-paid trip to perform at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza in September 2016.

Dogmanic Vocal Contest

Why do so few singers have industry-quality recordings? Because the accessible home studio promises quality recordings but still falls severely short of professional recording studios. And when they do eagerly come into a recording studio to make something they’re proud of, they often leave with something that feels rushed. DogManic Recording Studios takes their time to get on the same page as their artists before charging for any audio services. They believe that capturing a great vocal performance is like getting the right brush stroke from an artist, it has to feel spontaneous and natural!

In an effort to encourage local talent to take the next step in their careers, DogManic Recording Studios is giving away over $2000 in studio time. Their Contest for South Florida’s Best Vocalist puts down an EP’s worth of studio time for an ambitious artist to pick up and run with. The submissions deadline is February 1st. 10 finalists will be notified by February 7th that they can come perform at the live studio competition on February 21st.

The finalists will come into the studio on February 21st to perform live for three well-qualified judges from across the musical landscape. Sun Sentinel’s Nightlife Reporter Talia Medina, WVUM 90.5’s DJ Alex “Far Out” Faron and Multi-Faceted Broadway Singer Rachel Klein will listen from the blind control room as each finalist takes their turn singing in DogManic’s main performance room.

With so much to gain and nothing to lose, this is the perfect chance to support local talent! Jump at the opportunity and submit an audition today!

Hard Rock Rising Phase1

2014  will mark the 6th year that the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood Florida participates in the Hard Rock Rising battle of the bands.  The staff and management of the Cafe want to see a local band win this global competition that will send one band all the way to Rome this year.  Do you know of a band that can make it all the way to the top of this competition?  Getting them there will be a group effort involving both band-members and fans of the band.

The first step for any band interested in competing will be to register on ReverbNation.  Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood will host 12 bands this year, and like last year, ten will be voted in by fans and two will be wild cards chosen by the cafe and judges.  The Café will work with a panel of three judges who are music oriented to assist with the judging on various criteria such as Musicianship, Marketability, Voice Talent and Originality.

The competition is split up into 3 Phases as follows:

Phase 1 – Registration January 6-January 27

This is the beginning phase where the bands get the chance to register as they must be a member of ReverbNation to be part of this event as well as become a fan of the Hard Rock Café, Hollywood Facebook page in order to participate in this.

ReverbNation will be inviting all bands that are registered with them in the Ft. Lauderdale/Palm Beach/Miami area to become part of this “activation” for contest registration.

Some Rules:

– bands must be within a 100 mile radius to play in the Cafe

-As there is no limit to the size of the band, however, the prize only includes airfare/hotel for up to 6 members

-all band members MUST be 18 years old at time of sign up, not at time of performance

-bands can only register in 1 market

-ALL SONGS MUST BE ORIGINAL

Phase 2 – Online Voting January 27-February 17

Using Facebook apps found on the Cafe’s Facebook Page, fans will be asked to vote for their favorite bands who have registered in this contest.  Bands will be given online links to make it easy for them to direct fans to their voting pages. Once voting is complete, the Café will receive a list of the bands in the order of the votes, 10 picked by fans and another two will be wild cards.  This year, apps for the iPhone and Android mobile screens will also be available to get as many votes from as many different sources as possible.  Fans will also be given the opportunity to “triple” their votes by visiting the cafe in person by February 17.

Phase 3 – Live Performances March 14-April 11

Every Friday night,  three bands will be asked to perform at the Cafe with the first one starting at 9pm.  Each band will perform a set of 3 original songs and one song covered by a previous Hard Rock Calling band.  Here is a breakdown of rounds for the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood:

Hollywood Round One – March 14

Hollywood Round Two – March 21

Hollywood Round Three – March 28

Hollywood Round Four – April 4

Final Round – April 11

The winner of the final round will move on to the next phase in the global competition.

‘best of luck to everyone!
