When restaurants and bars shut their doors, and cities issue orders to stay home, what do all the bands and musicians do to keep their music alive and fans entertained? While many individual musicians have taken to the social media airwaves conducting solo concerts from their living rooms, bands are still unable to come together due to social distancing requirements. One company has come up with a way for bands to show off their past performances with a virtual battle of the bands using popular social media app, Instagram.
Beginning today, Monday March 30th and running through Sunday, April 5th, bands are invited to upload one of their favorite videos to their Instagram page asking viewers to give their video hearts (ie: likes) while ending the post with the hashtag #StayHomeBandBattle and tagging contest sponsor @entertainment_resource
The top 10 bands with the most likes will move on to round 2, running April 6-12. Round 3 will narrow down the competing bands to only the top 5. Round 4 will narrow down to the top 3 band videos with the most likes at which time a winner will be announced on Monday, April 27th. Entertainment Resource has put together a Go Fund Me page for donations to serve as the prize money for this contest. The campaign has already been seeded with $1000 to serve as a grand prize and will use further donations as a way to pay off second and third place winners.
