Every year, thousands of tourists from the great white north descend upon Hollywood Beach to bring a taste of French-Canada to South Florida. While temperatures dip below zero up in Quebec, thousands of French-Canadians plan their trips to Hollywood Florida looking forward to this annual tradition along the boardwalk of Hollywood Beach. Here is how the CanadaFest website (which sometimes crashes due to overload) and The French Newspaper “Le Soleil de la Floride” describes this two-day event with a little translation and editing thrown in for good measure:
CanadaFest will take place once again on 27th and 28th of January 2018 along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, named one of America’s top ten nostalgic promenades by USA Today and one of America’s best beach broadwalk by Travel + Leisure. For the 150,000 visitors who attend this event every year, this is the occasion to applaud many musical artists from Quebec and visit the 100+ merchants who line the walkway with their kiosks providing the sights, sounds, gastronomy and the general ambiance of this festival. CanadaFest is proud to be The Biggest French festival in the United States year after year. CanadaFest is a non profit organization that aims to entertain the residents and visitors of Florida, in hope of providing cultural diversity to the residents of Florida by showing the French Canadian culture. It also aims to make known of the multitude of products offered to the French Canadians in this region.
The two main organizers and sponsors of this Canadian festival are Le Soleil de la Floride and the City of Hollywood. This year, CanadaFest 2018 is under the tutelage of Denise Dumont, the new Executive Director and Head of Operations for the Florida Sun and its annual Florida Access Guide.
The event will begin at 10 am and continue until the evening with more than 40 invited guest performers, mostly from Canada.
The shops and restaurants along the Broadwalk offer all the amenities you need for an outdoor meal, right next to the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Many of those who provide services to Canadians in Florida, such as banks, and a variety of other products, will have booths at CanadaFest along the Broadwalk (aka Hollywood Boardwalk).
Thanks to the efforts of Denise Dumont, Vice President of CanadaFest, Brigitte Leblanc, Music Director, Sophye Nolet, Producer of the show, Sandra Belzile, event coordinator and Josée Pouliot Marketing, several well-known Canadian artists are invited to spend the weekend with you at CanadaFest. For the first time in its history, CanadaFest has a spokesperson: Madame Claudette Dion! In addition, well-known singers and performers such as Martin Dubé, Madison Tucker, David Morin, Dany Flanders, Véronique Labbé, Brigitte Leblanc and Caroline Laurendeau will create a fantastic show. Deano Clavet will be master of ceremonies. Only one big stage will be installed on the beach this year for these artists and their musicians. During this renewed edition of the festival, you will feel like being transported to the entertainment world in Las Vegas, and the event is free!
Remember, it’s January 27-28, 2018, where you can spend two days entertaining in the warm Florida sun, along a beautiful white sand beach on the Atlantic Ocean, on the Broadwalk from the city of Hollywood Beach.
