Fort Lauderdale neighbors, business owners, guests, students, and Community Builders have been invited to install temporary interactive, engaging pop-up parks for everyone to enjoy on Friday, September 21st. A select number of parking space will be transformed into fun, creative places with fewer cars and more people engaging in community building activities to celebrate worldwide PARK(ing) Day.
About Park(ing) Day
PARK(ing) Day is a one-day global event held on the third Friday of September each year that brings citizens together to transform on-street parking spaces into temporary public places, such as pop-up parks. The goal of PARK(ing) Day is to challenge us to rethink the ways our streets and urban spaces are used, stimulate creative placemaking, and raise awareness for the importance of creating walkable, livable, and healthy communities.
Deadline to apply is Friday, August 10
Available locations are included on the event web page. Make sure to check out the PARK(ing) Day Participation Manual for ideas and guidelines to activate your pop-up park.
