Looking for live entertainment this weekend? If you’re anywhere near Fort Lauderdale beach, or more specifically Sunrise and A1A, you’re in for a big treat beginning around 12:00 noon until 3:30 pm both Saturday and Sunday May 4th and 5th, 2019. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will headline the 2019 Fort Lauderdale Air Show which will also feature the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team along with military jet flyovers, parachute teams, civilian aerobatic acts and formation flight teams.
Should you buy a ticket?
While the beach area is always open to the public, and beach area hotels are all within the viewing area, there will be designated areas at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park reserved for ticketed attendees with adult ticket prices ranging from $29.75 for the “Drop Zone” to $179 for the “Flight Line Club VIP”. Please note these are only valid for tickets purchased online and may be significantly more if you wait till the day of the event. Those attending with drop-zone tickets are being asked to park at the Galleria Mall (or Uber/Lyft to the mall) and walk across the bridge to the Birch State Park entrance approximately 10 minutes away on foot. Flight Line Club VIP ticket holders will be treated to a free golf cart ride from the Birch State Park parking area to a reserved area where they will enjoy a catered lunch from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Draft beer, soft drinks and water will also be served for the remainder of the event.
If price is no object and you want the ultimate VIP experience, purchase a $399 ticket to the Pelican Grand VIP Penthouse ($499 day of event). You’ll be one of the few to watch the jets roar by at eye level from the rooftop balcony directly on the oceanfront with a panoramic view of the airspace! Step downstairs into the luxury ballroom and enjoy the same view in air conditioned comfort. A variety of food will served at stations throughout the ballroom as well as passed hors d’oeuvres if you don’t want to miss any of the action. An open bar will be provided with select name brand liquors, wine and beer. The VIP Penthouse will offer the best opportunity for a meet n’ greet and photo opportunity with select pilots and performers when they visit before or after their performances. Valet parking, just steps from the elevator to the Penthouse, will be provided by the Pelican Grand Hotel for a hassle-free arrival and departure.
