Fort Lauderdale Gets Lit for the Holidays

The holiday season officially kicks off as the City of Fort Lauderdale hosts Light Up Lauderdale celebrations throughout the city between Thursday, November 11th and  Saturday, December 11th.  Each event features family friendly activities, tree lighting ceremonies, live entertainment and more.


November 11, 6:00 – 8:30 PM – The holiday season officially kicks off as Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale hosts the popular “Get Lit” event that also marks the launch of Light Up Lauderdale – an annual 10-week celebration of sparkling holiday lights along the banks of the scenic New River. Join us for live holiday musical performances, train rides, kids’ crafts, face painting, a visit by Santa, and more!


Thursday, November 18, 6:00 – 9:00 PM – The magic of the holiday season comes to the Galt Ocean Mile as the North Beach Restaurants and Shoppes and the City of Fort Lauderdale present an enchanted evening of live music, entertainment, food, and fun for the entire family. The event features live music from Remix and the Shane Duncan Band on two stages along NE 33rd Street, a kid’s zone on NE 33rd Avenue, and the Fort Lauderdale Symphonic Winds orchestra at NE 32nd Street and NE 33rd Avenue, plus food and drink specials from more than 15 restaurants and bars. A tree lighting ceremony takes place at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, November 23rd 5:30 – 8:30 PM – Light Up the Beach takes center stage with the illumination of more than 50,000 holiday lights along our picturesque beachfront and the return of “Olas,” our wildly popular larger-than-life 20-foot beach snowman at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard. Highlights include performances by the Yuletide Carolers, jazz saxophonist Randy Corinthian, the Fort Lauderdale Symphonic Winds, plus a kids zone with Santa, inflatables, slides, pony rides, and more.

Menorah Lighting Celebration

Monday, November 29th 6pm – Honor the first night of Hanukkah with us as we host the Menorah Lighting Celebration. Highlights include the traditional menorah lighting and delicious customary treats.


December 3, 3:00 – 7:00 PM – Get ready for dancing in the streets at hottest holiday light up event in town with Light Up Sistrunk. This one-of-a-kind celebration features live bands, outstanding entertainment, a free toy giveaway, health fair, a kid’s zone, photos with Santa, plus bounce houses, game trucks, and the lighting of a giant holiday tree!

Saturday, December 11th 3 – 7 PM – Enjoy holiday cheer at Light Up Carter Park with highlights including live performances from local artists, bounce houses, train rides, face painters, holiday crafts, prizes, and more. The free celebration culminates with the lighting of the Carter Park Holiday Tree!
