Visit Lauderdale Food & Wine Festival

The Visit Lauderdale Food & Wine Festival, formerly known as the Greater Fort Lauderdale Food & Wine Festival, will take place January 9-15, 2023 with an impressive lineup of Signature Events taking place during an epic week-long festival offering culinary events for ‘Everyone Under the Sun.’ VLFWF co-founders Kate Reed and Phillip Marro have curated a tantalizing schedule of chef-to-chef battles, master mixologist showdowns, educational opportunities for aspiring chefs of all ages, and an impressive line up of featured talent for “The Grand Tasting”.

Not to bite off more than any guest can chew, each event is an individual ticketed experience, allowing cooking-class-seekers and foodies-on-the-find-for-their-next-faire-fix the opportunity to mix-and-match their preferred tasting schedule.

 Events Schedule

  • Monday, January 9th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: Empanada Party at Culinary Convenience with Chef Jorge Montes – get ready to roll up your sleeves and roll in the dough as Chef Jorge Montes guides guests through a variety of empanada recipes, ending with the ultimate “you’ve gotta taste these empanadas” feast. Tickets are $75 per person
  • Tuesday, Jan 10th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: The Art of Charcuterie at Sistrunk Marketplace with Chef Jorge Montes – not to be cheesy, but the only board allowed, is the finely crafted cheese board professionally outfield with an epic selection of meats and cheeses. Guest will design, then devour their perfectly placed charcuterie masterpieces. Tickets are $85 per person
  • Tuesday, Jan 10th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: Southern Cooking 101 at TRP Taste with Chef Chris Miracolo – cooking up classic Southern dishes from Hand Cakes and Fried Green Tomatoes to Low Country Shrimp & Grits and Seasonal Fruit Cobbler, guests will leave with recipes they can make at home, to bring home, that down-home Southern feeling. Tickets are $79 per person
  • Wednesday, January 12th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: Topless Tapas at Sistrunk Marketplace with Chef Jorge Montes – not quite the ‘chefs gone wild’ affair it may sound like, this evening will serve up Spanish vibes and bites, where guests will learn how to make a variety of savory tapas and treats. Tickets are $75 per person
  • Wednesday, Jan 11th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: Cake Decorating… in a galaxy far, far away at New River Café and Bakery with Chef Sabrina Courtemanche, winner of Sugar Rush Christmas on Netflix – guests will have the opportunity to create a movie ‘star,’ fan-favorite character out of cake, decadent frosting, fondant details and a little culinary magic that will them saying “out of world, this class is.” Tickets are $75 per person
  • Thursday, Jan 12th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: Korean Vegan at Sistrunk Marketplace with Chef Jorge Montes – guests will savor a selection of flavorful vegan-Korean dishes like Lemon Sesame Cucumbers in Rice Vinegar, Kimchi Fried Rice and more. Tickets are $75 per person
  • Thursday, Jan 12th | 6:30pm
    • Culinary Class: The Art of Pizza at Pizzeria Magaddino with Chef Tom Magaddino – however you slice it, this class serves up a variety of Italian must-eats like roasted balsamic peppers and antipasto, culminating with the art of mastering the Neapolitan pizza, complement by a refreshing beer selection from Gulf Stream Brewing Company. Tickets are $75 per person
  • Friday, January 13, 2023 | 7:00pm
    • Taking the classic poolside BBQ to a level of luxury and epic showdown of pitmaster skills is the Poolside BBQ Battle – also presented by the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority – at Hyatt Centric Las Olas on All smoke and no mirrors here, as pitmasters showcase their best BBQ creations in a quest to be crowned 2023 Poolside BBQ Battle Champion.  Tickets for this showdown start at $75 per person.
  • Saturday, January 14, 2023 | Noon
    • Foodies with a taste for more variety can feast their eyes (and fill their stomachs) at The Grand Tasting at the famed Las Olas Oceanside Park. This beachside culinary celebration features 4 hours of unlimited bites and sips, cooking demonstrations, live music and some good-old-fashioned culinary competition with VIP tickets starting at $110 per person and General Admission tickets starting at $55 per person.
  • Sunday, Jan 15th ,2023 | Noon
    • Picnic in the Park presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital on Sunday, starting at noon at Las Olas Oceanside Park. Future foodies (aka the kiddos) and parents alike will enjoy a curated lineup of food trucks, hands-on culinary classes for all ages, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, a Kid’s Zone, and local artisan vendors. Admission is complimentary.
    • The Kids Can Cook™ Culinary Classes taking place during Picnic in the Park (a family fun affair), led by Chef Dario Stephen, of the revolutionary Kids Can Cook™ interactive culinary experience and educational programming. Choice of classes include Ravioli Making, Candy Sushi Making, or The Art of Cupcake Decorating. Tickets are $50 per person (for adult or child) | Guests must be six-years or older, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

The Talent

As if the line-up of culinary-masterminds and mixology-connoisseurs wasn’t enough to impress any discerning palette, VLFWF has added a few featured guests to spice up The Grand Tasting, to be hosted on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 12pm – 4pm.

Famed Chef Jason Smith – a “Triple Crown” winner in the competitive kitchens of Food Network; winning Holiday Baking Championship (season 3), Holiday Baking Championship: Kids vs Adults (2016), and the ultimate title of Next Food Network Star (season 13) – along with Chef Ingrid Hoffman – author, and host of Top Chef Estrellas (Telemundo), Simply Delicioso (Cooking Channel), and Delicioso (Univision) – will take to the main stage to host incredible culinary demonstrations.

Also on the main stage, local South Florida talent Alexander J. Starr – an Emmy-nominated songwriter, performer, and impact activist – will be performing, beginning at 1pm with sets throughout day.
