The global countdown has officially begun. With the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 fast approaching South Florida, the City of Lauderhill is waste no time stepping onto the center stage. Municipal leaders have officially announced a dynamic, two-day “World Cup Kickoff” celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Aimed at uniting Broward County communities, boosting the regional economy, and engaging local youth, this weekend-long festival will span two distinct locations in Lauderhill, giving soccer enthusiasts and families their first taste of World Cup magic.
The Lineup: Two Days, Two Venues
Lauderhill’s celebrations are uniquely tailored across two separate venues to maximize community access and offer distinct experiences each day:
Day 1: The All-Day Fan Fest
- When: Saturday, June 6, 2026 (All Day)
- Where: Lauderhill Sports Park (7500 Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill, FL 33313) CBS News
- The Experience: Saturday will transform the sports park into an expansive fan zone. Attendees can expect a high-energy watch party atmosphere, live musical entertainment, international food trucks, and multi-cultural vendors celebrating the diverse populations that call South Florida home.
Day 2: Youth Clinics & Community Day
- When: Sunday, June 7, 2026 City of Lauderhill
- Where: Central Broward Regional Park (Located at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and State Road 7 / U.S. 441) CBS News
- The Experience: The momentum shifts to local youth and community development on Sunday. The day will feature specialized youth soccer clinics, interactive games, family-oriented entertainment, and live musical acts. It is designed to get the next generation active and inspired by world-class athletics.
A Massive Economic and Cultural Win
While the official tournament matches will take place just down the road at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens (set to host seven matches from June 15 to July 18), Lauderhill is positioning itself as a vital piece of the region’s tourism and economic strategy.
For Vice Mayor Richard Campbell, who has spent the last year rallying local businesses to capitalize on incoming international tourism, the impact of these events extends far beyond sport:
“Hosting this kickoff event puts Lauderhill on the map and will mean over a billion dollars for Broward’s economy,” said Vice Vice Mayor Campbell. “The World Cup promises a broader legacy. It’s an opportunity for our youth to participate in community engagement and to have exposure to international audiences.”
The initiative is part of a broader, collaborative effort spearheaded by Lauderhill leadership alongside Broward County Commissioner Hazelle Rogers. Together, they are working in lockstep with nearby municipalities—including Tamarac, Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Hollywood, Oakland Park, Lauderdale Lakes, Hallandale Beach, and Deerfield Beach—to implement a comprehensive “Broward Welcomes the World” campaign.
How to Attend and Participate
Admission to the events is open to the public as Broward County rallies its residents to embrace the global game.
Parents looking to register their children for the Sunday youth soccer clinics are encouraged to secure a spot early. Registration details, schedules, and additional event guidelines can be accessed directly through the official City of Lauderhill webpage.
Whether you are a die-hard soccer fan eager to feel the stadium energy or a family looking to enjoy a weekend of live music and sports, Lauderhill is proving that you don’t need a ticket to the stadium to be a part of the world’s biggest game.
