The Shortt List

Here’s a list of some of the happenings on the east side of town in Dania Beach/Hollywood Beach.  If you want a more complete list of music all over Broward, check out the complete calendar at

Time to say goodbye

Lisa and Wayne Shortt
The Shortt List Beach Happy Hours

It is with a mixture of regret and relief that I am announcing the end of my weekly email.  Through this email, I have met some wonderful people all with the same love of live music that Wayne and I enjoy.  Unfortunately, it can also be very time consuming and frustrating.  Now that I have returned to the “real world” work force (as opposed to my bartending days), I find it necessary to turn my focus elsewhere.

I originally started this email as a way to promote the Hubby.  The thought was, if you email it, they will come!  And boy did we build a wonderful following of great people who just like to have a good time and listen to music.  Of course I promoted Wayne, but by promoting all of the other musicians we were able to get you folks to come out and just enjoy the music- whoever it may be.  Please continue to support the venues who provide FREE live music.  We are incredibly fortunate to listen to the talent we have in this area, and we don’t have to pay a cover charge!

Let me leave you with a few tips if you are looking for your favorite bands:

I get all of my info for the Hollywood Arts Park and Hollywood Beach Theatre from

Dania Beach Bar and Grill lists entertainment at (look under “events”)

Most of the bands have a facebook page, Curbstone, the Unusual Suspects, Mr. Nice Guy, Orange Sunshine, and of course Wayne Shortt (sorry, had to get my last shameless self promotion in).  Some of the bars are very good about posting either a calendar or a daily post on entertainment- the Big Easy, Jimbo’s Sandbar, Joe’s Tiki Bar and Rudy’s Pub are always pretty good about keeping you updated.

Lastly, the best source that I have found for a comprehensive guide to live music is  Rob does a phenomenal job putting this site together.  Buy him a drink (or a Starbucks) the next time you see him to thank him for devoting so much time to this endeavor.

Thank you for all your kind comments over the years.  I hope everyone will continue to come out and support the Hubby at his gigs- he truly loves playing music and it’s doubly rewarding when he sees folks he knows walk in the door to hear him.

We’ll see you out and about!
